Hip Hop 360 Hip-Hop 360 re-engages students back into school, while giving them an outlet to properly and constructively express themselves. For students that lack the opportunity to participate in the creative arts, Hip-Hop 360 exposes and enhances students’ creative abilities while helping them grow academically and socially. Hip-Hop 360 provides middle school and high school students the opportunity to express themselves through various artistic avenues. The goals of Hip Hop 360 are:
By focusing on the needs and interests of young adults, ages 12-17, Hip Hop 360 successfully engages youth into productive action. Beginning with an induction to hip-hop culture, history, key players, and relevance in music and art today, students then choose to specialize in one of the four creative elements: creative writing through lyricism, urban art, dance, or DJing. They receive expert instruction in their chosen element with the aim of creating their own original work within the project’s 8-week span. This specialized instruction focuses on the fundamentals that ultimately lead to academic achievement. All courses adhere to state and national art standards.
